Hello! My name is Anh Le Tran, and I am a Nursing student at St. Francis Xavier University. I am also an Undergraduate Research Assistant in the McNichol Lab, where I work with Dr. Jesse McNichol and Dr. Katherine Rutherford on using HCR-FISH and microscopy to study microbial communities from environmental water samples. We hope to better understand their distribution and ecological roles under the unique conditions found in Death Hole. If you are wondering what FISH is, it is a technique that uses fluorescent probes that bind to specific rRNA sequences inside microbial cells, allows us to visualize specific organisms of interest.
I love music and I have been playing the piano for 10 years now.
